Position: Sales & Marketing Manager

As the Sales & Marketing Manager, you will play an integral role in leading our company's growth to become the premier risk management advisory firm in the global green building industry. Working closely with our company President, you will design and implement a long-term sales and marketing strategy for the company. This will include a combination of direct sales; on-line and print publication of leading-edge thought research; conference presentations; and on-going client relationship management. As part of an entrepreneurial team, you will have the opportunity to adapt and iterate the company's strategy based upon market feedback and the company's long-term growth expectations.

This is an ideal position for an experienced sales or marketing manager with a passion for sustainability who is seeking to make an immediate impact in a rapidly growing start-up, to have ownership over your work, and to work hard at creating a significant company brand within the global green building sector.


Direct Sales (50%):

  • Work with the company President to plan and implement the company's on-going sales strategy, including phone and e-mail outreach as well as in-person meetings with senior-level management at companies involved in commercial real estate.

On-Line & Print Marketing (30%):

  • Lead the design of a holistic marketing plan in line with the company's long-term growth objectives. 
  • Work with the company President to create industry-leading thought research on sustainable risk management using our proprietary analytical framework. Drive the publication of such research in leading industry publications and periodicals. 
  • Explore other on-line marketing strategies, such as podcasts and webinars.

Conference Participation (10%):

  • Identify relevant industry conferences, and reply to conference requests for speaker presentations.
  • Attend industry conferences when relevant, including those at which Negawatt has secured a panelist position.

Client Management (10%):

  • Coordinate with the company President to reach out to existing clients to gauge satisfaction, to obtain feedback on product design/quality, and to implement damage control when necessary.

About You:

  • You have a BA/BS from a top university.
  • You have at least five years experience in a sales or marketing position, preferably with experience directly interacting with clients' senior management.
  • You have a strong work background in project management; experience directly managing staff is a plus.
  • Preference will be given to those who have experience in the commercial real estate industry, and/or who have a demonstrated interest in sustainability.
  • You can easily work with the Microsoft Office portfolio of products, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • You are detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with periods of little direct oversight, and you hold yourself to your own high standards in terms of work quality and client satisfaction.
  • You are able to travel approximately 10-15% for client sales visits and conference attendance.
